PKD Public Class - May 27th and 28th

Seven students attended the May 27th and 28th class from Centurion Pipeline, Plains Pipeline, Shell Pipeline, and Lubrizol Spediality Products.  Selected comments included the following:

  • Very good overall introduction.  Especially enjoyed the geology or oil and gas.
  • All new hires should attend this course.  it is important to get a broad overview of pipeline fundamentals instead of just learning a specialized, small portion, of the pipeline information.
  • Tom, you are a wonderful educator.  I am very fortunate my company allowed me to take this class.  I've learned a lot and will continue to review the training manaul we received.
  • Everything was very well laid out and taught in a way that makes sense ar every level of eduction.
  • I enjoyed the personal examples,
  • Awsome pictures. A picture is worth a 1000 words to me.
  • Enjoyed the pictures of pipeline anomolies.
  • Pigging pictures were awsome.
  • Good use of photos, diagrams, etc.
  • Good information on equipment and how pumps and tanks work.
  • Intersting to hear what causes pipeline failures.
  • Helpful to see examples of real world incidents.
  • Good information of the methods to detect and prevent internal corrosion. Well explained for a nontechnical person like me.
  • Enjoyed the video at the end of Control Room Operations.
  • Scheduling was very useful to learn.
  • Good overview of economics and decisions that go into pipelines.  Hopeful to see "real world" examples.
  • I liked the part where you had us identify good and bad designs for pipeline.
  • Great coverage of all the regulatory agencies.
  • I liked the block slides about money and taxes.  Makes it easier to understand.  Examples were great.
  • Very good pictures and videos of reparing a pipe.
  • Directional drilling video was great.
