Energy Pipelines for the New Employee

On August 1 PKD "classroom  tested" Energy Pipelines for New Employees with a select group of pipeline company recent hires.  Comments from the students included the following:

  • Good overview, but a bit overwhelming for my base of knowledge.
  • Excellent overview.  Really liked the acronym explanations.
  • Great section.  Easy to follow and understand even with little to no previous exposure to the equipment.
  • Really liked the pictures.
  • Enjoyed the history.
  • Very interesting section - especially the overview on corrosion and smart pig operations.
  • The pictures in this section made it very easy to follow.
  • Interesting perspective I have not seen before.
  • Risk analysis was very informative.
  • Good introduction to pipeline scada.
  • Narrated videos were too long.  Keep it short and narrate live.
  • Website review was excellent.
  • Saved the best for last - about the economics section
  • Enjoyed the entire presentation - very easy to follow and great job by Tom.
Based on this live test and student comments various improvements will be made to the class.  The revised class will be offered again on October 22.
